Harlow Lake

We’re kicking off the autumn posts a little bit early this year… but our fall color in the Upper Peninsula is already poppin’ off! I feel like… I wasn’t fully prepared! I haven’t even switched my wardrobe over from summer to autumn, I’ve been bouncing around the state a bit for travels, a work-related trip to Grand Rapids, and it’s legit summer downstate compared to the U.P., so I’m in a weird time-warp! But Harlow Lake is always my first spot for that early fall color… so I headed out there last week, and it was beautiful! Granted, I’m in an autumn outfit, sweater, socks and boots, but on this particular day it was SO hot and SO muggy, the things I do for the fashion aspect of this blog sometimes I swear. 😆🍂 But was excited to put together this monochromatic outfit… and am trying to utilize more of my wardrobe and get a little more creative this fall! I mean, it’s the best season for personal style, in my opinion!

So much of my wardrobe is just… older, so it’s hard to give you guys specific links, but hopefully I can at least give you some inspiration! I picked up this shift midi dress from Target last spring, wore it to a wedding shower, and paired my (very old) Madewell bobble sweater over it. You can find this sweater though on Poshmark! I just had someone reach out to me about it, and I was easily able to find it over there. But yeah, classic Blundstones, I’ll be wearing those on repeat again this year, they’re just the best. Well worth the splurge. But otherwise, trying to sort of find my fall style without doing a lot of shopping. I think at this point, my style just is what it is! But you can get creative in your own closet with different accessories and styling sweaters over dresses, etc., which is what I plan to do more of!

But yeah, I’m so excited autumn is here. I thrive in this season. I’m excited for all of the usual fall content, in Marquette, and heading over to the Porkies, of course. But I’m planning a little bit longer of an autumn trip, trying to check out a new area, the Upper Peninsula’s version of “tunnel of trees”, so that’ll be fun! And I just spent a gorgeous weekend at a cabin in Republic, which I’ll share more about soon. That was a fun weekend of content creation, it got me inspired… to lean into more of a theme, which I love doing. I used to do a lot more of that in early Selective Potential days. But now I’m downstate for the weekend, for a work retreat, but very eager to head back up and embrace autumn and October and the best month of the year! 🍁
