Winter walks with Milk-Bone® Treats at Meijer

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Milk-Bone®. The opinions and text are all mine.

Anyone else get a little bit stir crazy this time of year? Instead of staying indoors, I’ve been trying to get out a little bit more… just to get some fresh air and change it up a little bit! Having a dog is the perfect excuse to get outside and I can always convince Winny to brave the cold with me if I tempt her with delicious treats! She’s loving these new Milk-Bone® GnawBones and Milk-Bone® Wonder Bones I picked up at Meijer! I’m loving them too, because they are long lasting and can keep her satisfied for longer! Be sure to check out the Meijer mPerks offer right now that’s good for $4 off your next Meijer purchase when you spend $15 on Milk-Bone® products!

Holton Arid Garden

Helloooo from the winter wonderland of Michigan. We escaped to the “desert” for a day to beat some of these winter blues, which was just ugh, so refreshing. I could sit here all day long. If you’re in Grand Rapids or ever visit Grand Rapids, be sure to head over to Frederik Meijer Gardens! We ended up getting a membership last year (mostly to get first dibs on their concert series, haha) but it’s nice to be able to pop over anytime and walk around for a bit. Especially in their Tropical Conservatory. Ah, heaven! Trying to love every day of winter, but I don’t know, I just get to be a bit over it this time of year. It just drags on and on and onnnnnn. And we’ve had the craziest weather and my car has gotten stuck in the snow more times than I can remember this year. So maybe I’m not even desperate for spring yet… maybe just some normal 32º winter days. 😆

Polar vortex

We survived the polar vortex! Whoa, what a week. I’ve never seen so much snow at our apartment, and our office never closes… and we locked the doors for two days with an option to work from home. I didn’t leave the house Tuesday night to Thursday afternoon. It was nuts! The craziest winter weather I can remember. And now, of course, Michigan… it’s 45º and pretty much all melted at this point. But to say I fell off the bandwagon with everything is an understatement — blogging, Instagram, going to FLEX, eating healthy. I’m so much more accomplished when I’m in a routine, so I’m super glad to be back at it today with some normalcy!

Snowy stripes

Hello from the middle of a polar vortex! Okay, these photos were taken last weekend when the sun was still shining… but man, we’ve gotten some major snow here in Michigan! Definitely can’t step outside without a coat right now, so I’m bundled up indoors with a hot chai latte and my fleece-lined blanket that I carry from room to room. I’m so excited that January is nearing it’s end though. I normally don’t like to wish time away, and I do like winter, but January is just so tough to get through sometimes. February, you start to see a little more daylight, Valentine’s Day is fun, it’s a shorter month, I don’t know. It just feels a little easier for some reason. So January, thanks for the fresh start + new year’s resolutions, but I’m ready to see ya go! Byeeee.

Creating a monthly budget with EveryDollar

I know I owe you guys a full post on our debt free journey… but today I thought I’d start with one of the very first things you should start doing if you’re not already… which is creating a monthly budget. I’m teaming up with EveryDollar, which is Dave Ramsey’s FREE budget tool. If you’re a little intimidated by creating a budget… don’t worry! It’s super easy, and it’s a great way to knock out debt and tackle your goals. It’s so important to be intentional with your money instead of wondering where it all went at the end of the month. The goal of the tool (app + desktop available!) is to create a zero-based budget, which is a way of budgeting where your income minus your expenses equals zero, so you know exactly where every dollar is going before the month begins. I’m also giving away an EveryDollar Plus subscription (which is the paid version that automatically syncs with your bank account) so be sure to read on for details!

Back in black

I am legit rocking out to AC/DC’s “Back in Black” as I write this post. Hahaha. Was that a blog break or what? I just couldn’t get it together since the holidays, even though we’ve had the best, most mild winter ever. I like to kick off the new year with resolutions… setting a financial goal, or a new fitness goal, and sometimes the blog takes a little bit of a hit. But I should start setting more goals for this blog. I don’t! But I’m back (in black, har har) and I’m going to try my darnedest to start getting content up here regularly. Thank you so much for sticking around — as always! I appreciate it so much.
