As we begin winter, I like to start thinking more about my beauty routine, especially on areas of myself that I'm excited to show more of in summer. And that most definitely includes silky smooth legs. I'm all for body hair if that's your thing, but I just love the feeling of smooth, hair-free legs. It's the perfect excuse to hibernate a little bit, cozy up on the sofa, catch up on movies, cook yummy meals at home, and spend extra time with friends and family. Winter is just my hardest time to find inspiration for style. Maybe it's because it's the season that lasts the longest in Michigan and it takes extra effort to constantly come up with something new? Maybe it's because it's just too cold to consider anything other than a huge sweater and winter coat? Like I mentioned in my last post though, I want to step it up a bit this year and take on the winter challenge and feel proud of my style and improve it as much as I can.

We're onto the first weekend of December! We eased into it with pretty low-key plans. Eric had shows all weekend in southwest Michigan, so I was on my own for the most part. Sometimes I love making plans with friends when he's off playing shows, but sometimes I also just love having the weekend to myself. On Friday night, I cooked myself a super yummy dinner of bowtie pasta with sausage and escarole, watched Christmas movies all night, and was in bed by 11pm. Kind of heavenly!

A couple of weeks ago, I talked a bit on how to be present during the holiday season, but I didn’t really talk about the benefits of being present. Being present means living in the moment, on purpose, and paying attention to what’s going on in your surroundings. Whether that means you’re looking out the window in the car of a road trip, or having a conversation with a friend, or just listening to the waves at the beach, you’re actively being in the moment. You’re being present. And with that, comes so many benefits.

Christmas brings so many fun traditions, and as I’m getting older, I’m realizing that I really love tradition, routine, and the simple things in life.
