Gray skies

So since our teaser of spring last Saturday, we've been stuck with gray, foggy, depressing weather ever since. I'm not the biggest fan, to say the least. But, as I always do this time of year, I'm trying to stay positive and use this time to get ahead with my goals. Plus, I always sort of miss this time of year when it goes away, because I really do like the slowness of winter, the dark nights where you can cuddle up on the sofa and watch all of your favorite TV shows, and cook a big pot of soul-warming chili. I always just struggle with being in the moment. So I just need to remind myself... time goes so quickly, enjoy the month you're in, and take advantage of the good things it has to offer!

Taste of spring

Happy Monday! So this weekend was a total whirlwind, but on Saturday, we hit 58º in Michigan... in January! So crazy. To be honest, I loved it during the moment... but now as I'm sitting here at my desk on this terribly dreary day, I almost wish we didn't get a taste of it... because now all I want is spring. And we're still in January. It's going to be a long winter, guys. Thank goodness the groundhog comes out next week, because I really hope he says an early spring is ahead!

Alleyway stripes

Hi friends! Long time, no see. I haven't been intentionally taking a break from the blog, but it just sort of happened that way. First, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing support on my last post about my resolutions. I received so many amazing comments, emails, and texts from strangers and friends. It blew me away. I honestly had no idea so many people struggle with anxiety and headaches. It can feel like such a lonely thing, but it's so reassuring to know I'm not alone in this process! So thank you. Second, I'm here! I'm blogging! Woo! January is always tough for the blog, but I'm going to try to continue posting throughout the month. But, I also decided I'm not going to obsess over it or stress on the days when we can't snap photos. If anything, you miss a few jeans and striped tees looks (since that's all I wear lately anyway) but I will continue to be here as often as I can!

Lake Michigan Christmas

Hi friends! Did you have a good Christmas and New Year's Eve? I took a little time off from the blog to relax and spend time with family and friends. I was still working at my full-time job all week, but it was nice to have the evenings to watch Christmas movies at home and go out to dinner a few times! Now that it's January though, I'm ready to get back into a groove. I'm a firm believer in new year's resolutions. To me, it's the perfect time of year to reset and start over again.

Annual Trip to Frankenmuth

One of my favorite days of the entire year is our annual trip to Frankenmuth. I was thinking about this the other day... and I was like, "Why do I love this day so much?" It's so crowded with people, it's usually freezing, it's expensive, you are lured into buying things you don't need, it's touristy AF, and you have to wait two hours in line for dinner. But honestly, I love it, so insanely much. It's just a day that means so much to me, and I can only truly say, it's a feeling I get when I'm there. It's so quaint and festive, I love spending the entire day with Eric, I love the places we visit (same places every year) and I love the food. And maybe part of it is that I absolutely love tradition, and nothing makes me happier than a simple, happy life. But man, I love Frankenmuth.

Boss lady pants

Hi friends! Did you have a good weekend? I loved this past weekend. On Friday night, we went to my annual work holiday party, which is always so much fun. The food is yummy, the company is wonderful, and our white elephant gift exchange is always a riot! On Saturday, we headed to Frankenmuth, but I have an entire post dedicated to that coming this week, and on Sunday, I went to a friend's house for a merry mimosa brunch. We have gotten SO much snow... I can't even believe it! It's a total winter wonderland in Michigan right now. I love it. It's just so pretty, and perfect for Christmas. We didn't have a white Christmas last year, so I really hope the snow stays until the new year at least!
